This dish is not indigenous at all. Rather it can be called British. This grains is about 4000 years old, but at first people don’t even pick it up. Rather it was used to feed farm animals. Since it contains lot of fibers, it was delicious to fill stomach of farm animals. Later, the people of Scotland, fascinated by its quality, brought oats to the list of their favorite foods. Oats took place at the breakfast table. Gradually it spread to Europe and America. Every year in America oatmeal day is celebrated on October 29.

This type of oats are usually eaten with porridge. This is called Scottish oatmeal. And there are rolled oats. This grain is steamed in the same way like rice is steamed from paddy. And then it is rolled to give it a shape of flakes. These oats are known as flaxseed rolled oats. 

These processed oats is also known as oatmeal. Since rolled oats can be cooked and eaten instantly, it is also called oatmeal. Instantly oats are made by making thin flakes by steaming for a long time. Sales of such oats are also high. ·       According to dietitian Priya Agarwal said “100gms of oats contains 369 calories, 18.9 grams of protein, 7.3 grams of carbohydrates, 10.6 grams of fiber and 6.9 grams of fat.” In addition to zinc, magnesium, copper, this grain is rich in micronutrients. And as a result it has many qualities.

·       It contains a lot of fiber. So it helps to keep the constipation clean. So if one have problem with constipation, oats will work. Apart from that, it fills the stomach and also keeps the weight under control.

·       Oats are gluten free. Those who have restrictions on gluten intake for physical problems can eat oats at ease.

·       Oats control the amount of sugar in the food. It also helps to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Its high fiber and complex carbs slow down the glycogenesis process. It contains beta-glucan, which helps controls blood sugar level.

·       It contains lipid profile. And as a result oats are ver effective in keeping cholesterol level right. They can also eat oats regularly if they have a heart attack.

·       Oats are high in fiber, low in carbs and low in fat. So they are perfect for weight loss. So obese people can keep oats in a healthy way.

Instant and quick oats are the best sellers in the market. But it is best to ear steel cut oats or rolled oats. And the nutritional value of oats depends on how you eat it. Its nutrition is maintained as soon as it is cooked like porridge or khichri. It can also eat with sour yogurt and fruit crumbs and oats. Clinical nutritionist Hina Nafis also agrees. In the words of Hina “There is no benefit in making nutritious food in an unhealthy way. There is no benefit in making biryani with oats with a lot of oil and ghee. Instead you can eat khichri.
